Monitoring acidic copper baths in semiconductor production

The most important processing bath in the production of printed circuit boards (PCBs) is the acidic copper bath. The components that are contained therein and need to be monitored are copper, sulfuric acid, chloride and also organic bath additives such as suppressors and brighteners. While the concentrations of copper, sulfuric acid and chloride are determined titrimetrically, Cyclic Voltammetric Stripping (CVS) and Cyclic Pulse Voltammetric Stripping (CPVS) are used to analyze the organic bath additives.
